Translating The Term Nafs in The Qur’an Into Indonesian: A Case Study on Al-Qur’an dan Terjemahnya, 1990, 2002, and 2019 Editions, Published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs

The term nafs has a particular position to be studied due its complexity in semantics. study focused on three editions of the Indonesian Al-Qur’an translation published by Ministry Religious Affairs Republik Indonesia: 1990, 2002, and 2019 editions. This aimed describe translations possibilities changes used qualitative design with descriptive-analytical method. data sources are texts Arabic Indonesian. results show have several themes: first, as desire; second, group; third, refers person or human; fourth, structure within human. In each theme, there variations diction. We also found consistencies dictions translation.
